Originally from Kent in England, Stevie learnt the clarinet and saxophone in school, playing with the Kent Youth Orchestra, as well as performing in several classical orchestras, wind bands, big bands and pit orchestras throughout Kent. She studied at Trinity College of Music, London for four years and picked up the flute along the way, finding a lot of work as a woodwind trebler in the London amateur dramatic scene.
After leaving college, Stevie taught woodwind in secondary schools, while continuing to freelance as a classical clarinettist and woodwind pit player. She also joined the Jazzabelles saxophone quartet in London, travelling extensively with them, performing on TV and radio shows and playing at several jazz festivals, including Edinburgh and the Western Australian Jazz Festival in Perth! Stevie met her husband from Bruff while in London, and moved back to Ireland with him many years ago, where she continues to gig and teach. She is principal clarinettist with the Limerick Choral Union and can be found in various pit orchestras in Limerick and the surrounding counties. Stevie is really looking forward to teaching the talented students at Musica Fusion.
