Gráinne Garvey started her musical journey aged seven, with singing lessons, and by age eight she had started learning to play piano and violin. At age 14 she began to learn the silver flute, and the next year she had completed her singing grade 8, going on to do the same in violin.
She was the leader of her local music school orchestra, Headford Music Works, as well as leading the Galway Youth Orchestra and playing in multiple other orchestras and ensembles in the west of Ireland.
Being heavily involved in music in her secondary school, led Gráinne to be awarded the Mairéad Berrill music award in her Leaving Cert year.
Her keen love of singing has led her to be a member of the Irish Youth Training Choir in 2019 and she has been a member of multiple choirs, as well as performing regularly in her local town.
Just this summer she did a summer course with Kodály Ireland learning about solfége and choral singing, where she was a recipient of the Colm Ó Cléirigh scholarship. Gráinne is excited to use the skills she acquired here in her musical journey.
Gráinne is currently studying violin performance under Maria Ryan in her second year on the BMus degree in the Cork School of Music. She is really looking forward to teaching the lovely Musica Fusion students this year.
